Alert!

Due to time-sensitive bookings, the drop-in hours for September have changed to Sundays.

  • Sep 14 Vertex 9-10am

  • Sep 21 Corner Brewery 12:30-1:30pm

Apologies for the late notice (and thus the early newsletter). Please always check the events calendar before heading out to a drop-in event. Since there’s no guarantee of anyone being there to see me, AND I have to essentially pay table rent, they’re the first thing to go in the event of a scheduling conflict.

Cozy up with cider, not stress. Fall is the season of fresh starts and finishing touches—a time when we take stock of what needs to be wrapped up before the year ends. Just like you’d pull out your favorite sweaters or stock up on pumpkin spice, it’s also smart to pull out your paperwork and make sure it’s in order.

That’s where my fall notarization checklist comes in. From wills and deeds to powers of attorney and advance directives, this guide helps you spot the documents that might need attention before the busy holiday season arrives. Think of it as your roadmap to smoother, stress-free paperwork—so you can spend more time enjoying crisp mornings, colorful leaves, and everything else that makes autumn feel like home.

Where can you find these forms? There are lots of places online that sell them, or that you can recreate their structure in your own document. If you do, be sure that you’re selecting one that complies with Michigan laws. There’s a power of attorney sample right in the Uniform Power of Attorney Act that you can copy-paste and format for yourself.

Wedding season is winding down and the political climate is making everyone uneasy. I’m getting calls round the clock for elopements and license signings to secure benefits and rights for a wide variety of families. I think my favorite so far is the one with the couple saying vows surrounded by their children. Their vows were beautiful.

Unfortunately it’s also resulted in scheduling conflicts with my drop-in hours. BOTH that I’ve scheduled this month have had to be rescheduled to trying out Sundays. If you were planning to go, please either make an appointment with me or check the events page for up-to-the-minute drop-in plans.

Thanks for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it.
